Several Considerations – If You Want to Buy a Swiss Watch

A Swiss watch is a chronograph with high-precision, and it is really expensive. People who go to buy them are always seeking increasing perfection. So, how can you manage to select a Swiss watch that suits you? What are the considerations when buying one? I have asked a couple of people who have such experiences, and it turns out they assess the quality of a watch just according to the loudness of the sound when it is ticking away. This method is not scientific, because even if the sound is distinct and there’s no static noise, it can just show that there is nothing wrong, but it can’t guarantee its quality. So, how to judge whether it is a high quality one? Here are some considerations for you.
1. Check the outward parts. There should not be any sand holes or obvious scratches on the watch case, and each angle should be exactly symmetrical. The distances from both of the watch hoops to the watch case should be the same. Make sure the three hands are correctly fixed and the coating of the face and hands of the watch is smooth without any black spot.
2. Check the sensitivity. Shake lightly the watch which has not been winded up and has stopped operating, and then observe how the second hand ticks with the help of the shaking. If the second hand stops operating in no time, then it will be able to finishing ticking as soon as the watch is winded up, and the sensitivity is high. In contrast, if the second hand keeps ticking for a long time, then it will not be able to finish after the watch is winded up, and the sensitivity is low, or there is something wrong with the Swiss watch.
3. Check the location of each hand and the space among them. There should be certain distance between the face and the hands and among the three hands, or they will rub one another, which will affect the normal running of the watch.
4. Check the winding mechanism. Normal watches wind easily. When winding up, you should firstly feel it loose, and then tight. When you can’t go on spinning the button, which means the watch has been fully winded up and the winding mechanism is in working order. On the contrary, if there is strange noise when you spin the button, then the winding mechanism is out of order.
5. Check the hand setting system. A high quality Swiss watch should be flexible and reliable and the hands should turn evenly when you are setting the hands. And if it doesn’t feel too tight or too loose, then the friction force is normal. On the contrary, there’s some trouble with the hand setting system.
